In The Violin Maker’s Daughter Eva, a skilled apprentice luthier, must flee her home in Colmar to escape capture by the Nazis: she is Jewish, and her family is in danger.
On her way, she meets a German soldier who, as an army defector, is also in danger. They flee together, on a perilous journey down south.
But Eva makes one naïve mistake and Ralf is captured. Consumed by guilt, Eva joins the French Resistance and finally finds the strength and courage to fight against injustice. No longer hiding in fear, she embarks on a lonely and dangerous mission into Nazi Germany.The two books can be read as standalones; however, Soldier’s Girl, written first, has far more of the background story.
